Limit Cycle Behaviour of a Neural Controller with Delayed Bang-Bang Feedback
نویسندگان
چکیده
It is well known that a linear dynamic system including a delay will exhibit limit cycle oscillations when a bang-bang sensor is used in the feedback loop of a PID controller. A similar behaviour occurs when a delayed feedback signal is used to train a neural network. This paper develops a method of predicting this behaviour by linearizing the system, which can be shown to behave in a manner similar to an integral controller. Using this procedure, it is possible to predict the characteristics of the neural network driven limit cycle to varying degrees of accuracy, depending on the information known about the system. An application is also presented: the intelligent control of a spark ignition engine. Keywords— Control and automation, artificial neural networks, limit cycle

Preserving System Performance During Feedback Failure
The problem of maintaining acceptable performance of a perturbed control system under conditions of feedback failure is considered. The objective is to maximize the time during which performance remains within desirable bounds without feedback, given that the parameters of the controlled system are within a specified neighborhood of their nominal values. It is shown that there is an optimal ope...
متن کاملUsing Modified IPSO-SQP Algorithm to Solve Nonlinear Time Optimal Bang-Bang Control Problem
In this paper, an intelligent-gradient based algorithm is proposed to solve time optimal bang-bang control problem. The proposed algorithm is a combination of an intelligent algorithm called improved particle swarm optimization algorithm (IPSO) in the first stage of optimization process together with a gradient-based algorithm called successive quadratic programming method (SQP) in the second s...

In this paper, a minimum and near-minimum time optimal control laws are developed and compared for a rigid space platform with flexible links during an orientating maneuver with large angle of rotation. The control commands are considered as typical bang-bang with multiple symmetrical switches, the time optimal control solution for the rigid-body mode is obtained as a bang-bang function and app...
متن کاملCorrection: Bang-Bang Control of Feeding: Role of Hypothalamic and Satiety Signals
Rats, people, and many other omnivores eat in meals rather than continuously. We show by experimental test that eating in meals is regulated by a simple bang-bang control system, an idea foreshadowed by Le Magnen and many others, shown by us to account for a wide range of behavioral data, but never explicitly tested or tied to neurophysiological facts. The hypothesis is simply that the tendency...
متن کاملModeling of Jitter Characteristics for the Second Order Bang-Bang CDR
Bang-Bang clock and data recovery (BBCDR) circuits are hard nonlinear systems due to the nonlinearity introduced by the binary phase detector (BPD). The specification of the CDR frequency response is determined by jitter tolerance and jitter transfer. In this paper, jitter transfer and jitter tolerance of the second-order BBCDR are characterized by formulating the time domain waveforms. As a re...
